Making Cleaning Easier At Lismore Base Hospital With The i-mop
Share:
''Because there is traditionally a lot of manual mopping in the hospital setting, the i-mop reduces a lot of shoulder injuries''
Lismore Hospital is a major public hospital in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. With approximately 260 beds, Lismore hospital serves as the primary hospital and trauma centre for the region.
We caught up with the Domestic Services department to learn how they have gone implementing i-mops in their cleaning routines.
Tell us a little bit about your role & responsibilities at the Hospital?
I am the Acting Domestic Services Manager. I manage 105 staff. I have to ensure all clinical & non-clinical areas are staffed appropriately & are cleaned to the standard of the Environmental Cleaning Standard policies & guidelines.
What made you choose i-mops?
I had heard the i-mop is a great compact floor scrubber for cleaning bathrooms, patients rooms & a lot of smaller floor areas.
What have been the benefits of using the i-mop?
We have i-mop lite, XL & XXL , 2 of each. The i-mop lite is great for cleaning bathrooms & patient areas. This machine gets a lot of mould & marks off the floors & is nice & compact for these smaller areas. The XL & XXL are for larger areas such as hallways & corridors & large meeting rooms – we have a lot of scuff marks on our floors & the i-mop works well with these marks and also buffs them a little. They also reduce the manual labour for staff. Because there is traditionally a lot of manual mopping in the hospital setting, the i-mop reduces a lot of shoulder injuries.
What sort of areas and what types of floors do you clean with the i-mop?
Bathrooms, patients rooms, hallway, corridors, large meeting rooms, cafeteria. Some bathrooms are tiled, but mostly vinyl flooring.
How were you previously cleaning your floors? How does the i-mop compare?
We currently use micro-fibre mops. I purchased the i-mops to be utilized at the cleaners convenience on bathrooms & patients rooms to remove any marks, filming of chemical and to give the floors a good scrub/buff. The i-mop lite is a nice easy convenient way to mop the floors & I encourage the cleaners to utilize these more than the Micro-fibre. The large i-mops are used approx. twice weekly to remove any marks and to buff them up a little.
What would you say to anyone looking at buying an i-mop?
I have mentioned to other hospitals how practical & efficient the i-mop floor scrubber is & would be a great investment. I also talk about all of the above!
Read the benefits of using floor scrubbers: a cleaner, safer and more efficient workplace.
Any other comments, stories or fun facts about the i-mop?
I am very happy with the purchase of all 3 i-mop models. I hope to be using these machines for many years to come.
