How did you come across the i-mop? What was your first impression?

My husband was not satisfied with the floors after they had been cleaned with a traditional mop and so went searching on the internet to find a machine that was similar to that used in the hospital setting where he works. He easily found i-mop and organized a meeting and demonstration with a consultant.

I wasn’t sure about the i-mop to begin with as it was rather large and I didn’t think it would suit domestic use. I also had to take into consideration my cleaner who would also have to use the machine. Initially I was happy with results the i-mop achieved following the demonstration, but I was still a little reluctant, due to its size and price tag.

What made you choose the i-mop for your home? And what have been the benefits?

I think the benefits far outweighed my initial concerns about the price and that my cleaner could also use the i-mop, and the floors are now cleaned properly and in less time than with the traditional mop. Ultimately the i-mop benefits have been endless. I can use it for both my interior and exterior concrete flooring, as well as my timber floors. In addition the i-mop provided a far superior cleaning result, the floors look and feel cleaner than with a traditional mop.

The i-mop is very user friendly and less back breaking than a mop and bucket, and my cleaner is also able to use the machine which is a bonus. I also use far less chemicals to clean the floors as I have previously which is obviously great for the environment and savings. The i-mop is easy to assemble, and I like the different options I have to clean the floor with, ie. Extra water spray and vacuum. This is extremely important as the floors are almost instantly dry after cleaning.

Wet floors were a big problem following the use of a traditional mop as you were unable to walk on the floors for at least 15-20 mins. Also having different types of pads helps clean all my different areas successfully. I was also very lucky that the consultant was very happy to come back multiple times to ensure I could use the i-mop properly.

What were you previously cleaning your floors with? How long did it take?

Previously I used a traditional mop and bucket. It would normally take approximately 2 hours to complete the interior concrete floors.

Previously I used a traditional mop and bucket. It would normally take approximately 2 hours to complete the interior concrete floors.

The main internal concrete area that is mopped on a weekly basis is approximately: 13m x 15m + approximately 15m x 2m worth of corridor. The exterior concrete area which is done less frequently is at least twice this size. The internal timber floors that are mopped include 9 rooms all with a minimum size of 5m x 5m each.

Has the i-mop been easy to use? Any issues that we can look into?

Yes the i-mop has definitely been easy to use. Easy to assemble, easy to maneuver, easy to change batteries, easy to empty and refill water containers and easy to disassemble and clean. I would like a water container that has the amount of water you are adding to the unit for more accuracy with diluting the cleaning product. Not sure if anything can be done but it would be super good if there was an additional tool that could get into the corners of rooms, they are missed with the circular i-mop pads.

What would you say to anyone looking at buying an i-mop for their home?

I would definitely recommend the i-mop if they were unhappy with their current method of cleaning floors, if you have larger floor spaces to clean and you want it done fast, the i-mop is extremely user friendly and support from the company is excellent. I would also recommend the i-mop for home use as I have been able to use it on both interior timber and concrete floors and external concrete floors making the machine very versatile.

I would encourage a home demonstration in order to see the benefits firsthand. The cost of the i-mop is very quickly recovered with less use of chemicals and the additional time you have for more fun things. In addition, because it only takes my cleaner approximately 45 mins from start to finish (including cleaning the machine after use), I am saving a minimum 75 mins every week from her invoice.
