In recent years, floor scrubbers have become an extremely popular method for cleaning commercial and residential floors. This is because of their efficiency and ability to deeply clean most types of flooring including timber, vinyl, concrete, and tiles just to name a few.
But as there are so many walk-behind floor scrubber models on the market, it can make choosing the right one difficult. So, to help, we’ve put together a comparative list with 4 of the top vertical floor scrubbers for 2024.

Weight
The overall weight of the machine is an important feature as it can impact the overall usability and storage of the product. Generally, the lighter and more compact the product then the easier it will be to use. When comparing our top 4 vertical floor scrubbers, the weight of each product varied considerably.
The Numatic 244NX and i-mop XL were the lightest of all four floor scrubbers, followed by the MIRA 40. The heaviest of all products was the Willmop 50.
Brush Speed
Brush speed or RPM (rotations per minute) is a key factor to consider when selecting your tile floor scrubber as the faster the pad rotates the better the scrubber can clean and polish your floors.
The i-mop XL and Willmop 50 came in with the best RPM of all four models at 350rpm, followed by the MIRA 40 at 220rpm and Numatic 244NX at 140rpm.
Cleaning Power
The cleaning power of a floor scrubber is calculated by multiplying the brush revolutions per minute (RPM) by the weight applied to those brushes. The i-mop for example puts 22.5kg of downward pressure on the brushes which is multiplied by 350rpm. This results in a cleaning power measurement of 7,875. The heavier the downward pressure, the better the cleaning performance and power.
Overall the Willmop 50 came in at the highest cleaning power of 8,750, followed by the i-mop XL at 7,875. The Numatic 244NX had the lowest cleaning power of all four products with a cleaning power of 3,080.
Brush Width
The brush width can help determine how many square metres you can cover with your floor scrubber and can also affect how frequently you may need to replace your brushes or pads. Often the larger the brush width, the less frequently you may need to replace them. It is also important to note that floor scrubbers with smaller footprints can allow you to clean in smaller spaces.
The Willmop 50 came in at the overall largest footprint, with the i-mop XL coming in second. The MIRA 40 had the smallest operational brush width.
Solution Tanks
Each floor scrubber is fitted with a clean water tank and a dirty water tank. It is important that the water tanks are large enough to store the appropriate amount of water, but are also able to be easily lifted, refilled, and emptied.
Another factor to consider is the amount of time the liquid in the solution tank lasts before it needs to be refilled in max water mode. The i-mop and Willmop had the most efficient water use with 15 minutes worth of water usage in each tank, followed by the Mira 40 and the Numatic at only 7 minutes.
Chemical Dosing
All the above brands can be used with cleaning solution to further sterilise and clean floors.
The i-mop XL has an additional upgrade kit called the i-dose which allows you to use your i-mop with revolutionary plant-based formula pods. The pods are concentrated formulas that are filled with the exact right amount for one i-dose solution tank. The solution is environmentally friendly and the pods can be disposed of in any standard recycling bin.
Run Time and Charge Time
All four floor scrubbers operate off lithium-ion batteries. While each machine can operate for over an hour once fully charged, the i-mop takes the lead with up to 100 minutes run time.
When it comes to charge time, the i-mop XL is also the clear leader. It has the fastest battery recharge time which means you can charge then go in 1 hour, which is half the time of its next competitor.
24/7 Runtime
The i-mop XL is the only product in the comparison that has the capability to run 24/7. This is possible when using the i-power batteries, with an optional second set of batteries.
Charge Time
Charge time varies from each machine due to the different battery sizes and power output. Charge time can be an important factor to consider when purchasing a floor scrubber, especially if your machine will be frequently used throughout the day.
Power
The Willmop 50 and i-mop XL both run off 24V power whilst the MIRA 40 and Numatic 244NX run off 36V. The voltage does not affect the overall power or runtime.
Made Blue replace every drop of water that is used in i-mop cleaning operations. For example, if an i-mop uses 18L of water per day x 350 days of cleaning, Made Blue will help construct new wells to produce over 6,000 litres of water to replace this consumption. By now Made Blue has helped produce over 10 billion litres of clean water in developing countries, enough to serve over 137.000 people every year, for the next 10 years.
