Key Insights
  • Top Benefits: How Drive Support reduces strain and improves comfort during extended use.
  • Compatibility & Installation: Which i-mop models it fits, and how to install it in just a few steps.
  • Real Results: What testing shows about weight reduction—and why it makes a big difference on the job.

If you've ever noticed your arms getting tired after a long cleaning session with the i-mop XL or XXL, you're not imagining it. While the i-mop is designed to be efficient and easy to maneuver, longer shifts or larger areas can still take a toll over time.

That’s where the Drive Support comes in. This optional attachment helps reduce the physical effort required to operate the i-mop during extended use. Whether you're cleaning day in and day out, or just want to make longer tasks a little easier, Drive Support is a practical add-on designed to improve comfort and support.

In this guide, we’ll walk through what Drive Support is, how it works, which models it fits, and how to install and use it effectively.

What Is Drive Support?

Drive Support is an ergonomic add-on for the i-mop XL and XXL that helps reduce strain during long cleaning sessions. It works by acting as a counterbalance to the handle, making the machine feel lighter and easier to maneuver.

✔️ Fits XL & XXL models (standard models can be retrofitted)
✔️ Comes standard on Pro models
✔️ Optional use – engage or disengage as needed
✔️ Improves comfort, especially over extended shifts

Key Benefits

Drive Support isn’t just a nice-to-have—it's a game-changer for anyone cleaning for extended periods. Whether you're working across large spaces or multiple floors, here’s how it helps:

Reduces operator fatigue: Perfect for long shifts, when every bit of help counts.
Increases ergonomic comfort: With adjustable brackets, it can be customised to fit your height.
Optional use: Need a break from the added support? Simply disengage it for more flexibility.
Retrofittable: No need to buy a new model; you can add it to your existing i-mop XL or XXL.

Testing the Weight Reduction of Drive Support with a Hanging Scale

Curious how much of a difference Drive Support really makes? We wanted to show you just how much it helps with the physical load during long shifts. To put it to the test, we used a hanging scale to measure the resistance of the i-mop handle—first without the Drive Support and then with it engaged.

Here’s what we found:

  • Without Drive Support, the handle (with a full solution tank) measured 3.97kg of resistance.
  • With the Drive Support engaged, that resistance was virtually eliminated.

This simple addition makes a huge difference, especially if you’re using the i-mop for extended periods or need to reduce physical strain. It’s all about making your cleaning shifts as easy as possible.

What’s Included in the Drive Support Kit?

You’re probably curious about what's included in the Drive Support kit and how to install it. So take a look below to see exactly that you’ll find inside the box when it arrives.

  • 1x Main Drive Support Bracket
  • 2x Height Adjustment Brackets (Blue = Standard / Grey = Short)
  • 4x Screws
  • 2x End Covers

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

If you're ready to retrofit/install the Drive Support bracket on your existing i-mop XL or XXL just follow the simple steps below.

Prep the i-mop:

  • Remove the brushes, squeegee, suction hose and solution tank
  • Lower deck into cleaning position

Attach the Bracket:

  • Replace the new notched cover panel above deck until it clicks into place
  • Slide in the main support bracket into the notches
  • Fold deck up, carefully lay machine on its back
  • Screw in the back plate on the opposite side
  • Reinstall accessories: solution tank, suction hose, brushes, squeegee

Adjust for Operator Height (Optional):

  • Remove both batteries
  • Unscrew internal nuts
  • Replace bracket (grey for shorter operators)
  • Tighten and reinstall batteries

Using Drive Support

Once installed, using Drive Support is simple. It’s designed to take the weight off so you can clean comfortably for longer periods without feeling the strain.

Simply push the bracket down until it clicks into position (this locks the support under the handle).

  • The handle will now rest in a supported position, making the machine feel lighter and easier to maneuver.

To disengage it:

  • Lift the bracket back up. The i-mop will function as usual, with full manual control.

Note: Drive Support is completely optional. You can choose to use it only when needed—whether that’s for longer cleaning shifts, larger areas, or simply when your arms could use a break.

Ergonomics Beyond the Bracket

While the Drive Support bracket helps ease handling during extended use, it’s just one part of the i-mop’s overall ergonomic design—something that’s been a focus since day one.

To see how it really stacks up, a recent study compared the i-mop to a traditional mop and bucket. Using motion sensors and tracking software, researchers measured the physical strain and duration of effort involved in each method.

The results? The i-mop significantly reduced both the intensity and duration of physical stress, suggesting a lower risk of repetitive strain injuries during cleaning tasks. For teams working long shifts or covering large areas, this can make a meaningful difference—not just in comfort, but potentially in fewer days lost to fatigue or injury.
